The Longines Global Champions Tour arrives at one of the world's most extraordinary venues — the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt — for Stage 14 of the 2026 Championship from 22–24 October. With €1.75 million in prize money and the title race entering its decisive final stretch, this is where history and horsemanship collide.
The Longines Global Champions Tour is heading somewhere truly extraordinary — Stage 14 of the 2026 Championship lands in Cairo, Egypt from 22–24 October, with an astonishing €1.75 million prize purse and the Pyramids of Giza as the backdrop. It is, quite simply, unlike anything the sport has seen before.
At the heart of the weekend will be the €1 million Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Cairo — the richest Grand Prix of the season and a contest that could reshape the Championship standings with just one event remaining before the Finals in Rabat. Every clear round, every single rail, every second on the clock will matter enormously.

With the title race heading into its final stretch, the pressure on the sport's leading riders has never been greater. Abdel Saïd, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Christian Ahlmann are among the names locked in a tightening battle for the 2026 LGCT Championship, and Cairo — with its €1 million Grand Prix — is exactly the kind of pivotal moment that can make or break a season.
There are no easy weekends left. Every rider on the start list knows that a single mistake at the wrong moment could cost them everything.

Cairo adds something genuinely new to the LGCT calendar. The Tour has always prided itself on pairing elite sport with extraordinary destinations — Cannes, Shanghai, New York, Monaco — but the Pyramids of Giza bring an entirely different kind of magic. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World will serve as the arena backdrop, creating images that will define equestrian sport's relationship with world heritage for years to come.
The event is a founding collaboration between the LGCT and Qatar's Years of Culture initiative, which connects Qatar with communities and cultures across the globe through art, heritage, sport and innovation. Cairo also offers a first glimpse of the Qatar, Egypt and Greece 2027 Year of Culture, building anticipation for a year of creative exchange between nations.
Egyptian rider Nayel Nassar — who competes for the Cairo Pharaohs GCL team — captured the mood perfectly: "How exciting, I never expected a 5* to ever come to Cairo, let alone a GCT event. It really says a lot about the direction the sport is heading in Egypt. The site of the ancient Pyramids marks another unique venue on the LGCT circuit — the setting will be spectacular, the vibes should be impeccable, and I can't wait to be there!"
Nassar will be joined by fellow Egyptian Sameh El Dahan, giving the home crowd plenty of heroes to cheer for on Egyptian soil.
Alongside the sport, the Egyptian Equestrian Federation, the General Organization for Veterinary Services (GOVS), Giza Governorate, Orascom Pyramids and the charity Brooke are jointly launching an initiative to improve veterinary care and working conditions for horses on the Pyramids Plateau — a meaningful commitment to equine welfare that runs alongside this landmark event.
The Longines Global Champions Tour of Cairo takes place 22–24 October 2026. Travel packages combining flights, accommodation and event tickets are available for fans wishing to experience this once-in-a-generation sporting spectacle in person.
The Pyramids have stood for 4,500 years. In October, for three unforgettable days, the world's best horses and riders will compete in their shadow.
